WANPAKU SUMO Tachikawa Tournament
(a preliminary match of the Tokyo tournament)

The Tahcikawa Wanpaku Sumo competition is open as a preliminary match of the national tournament(organized by Japan Sumo association and Tachikawa Junior chamber). Wanpaku Sumo is a tournament to discipline of mind and body as well as to promote health.  It is also aimed for the participants to have the courage to challenge and to be thoughtful for the losers, which will help them to grow up strong and spiritually rich. Children from under elementary school students to the 3rd grade students will play in a tournament.   Children from the 4th grade to the 6th grade students will play league games. Each top male student in the 4th 5th and 6th is qualified for the Tokyo Tournament. Prior registration is available but you can also register on the day of the match(first-come and first-served basis). We will hold an exhibition of university students' Sumo matches. We are looking forward to seeing you there.
